I started my career in social work but soon discovered that I would need to develop sales skills to secure funding for my program. I landed a job selling life insurance door-to-door. I was quite successful in my door-to-door life insurance sales job. My career rose from sales leader to sales manager, then from vice president to general manager.

As the general manager, I carried profit-and-loss responsibilities and closed deals worth tens of millions of dollars in Asia, Central/South America, Europe, and the United States.
